A program of the Bonner Soil and Water Conservation District, the Lake Assist program provides assistance to Bonner County residents on water quality concerns and suggestions on how to reduce pollutants to our abundant lakes, rivers, streams and groundwater.
Lake Assist
Many properties along Bonner County’s numerous lakes, rivers and streams include areas located with special flood hazard areas (“floodplains”). The County regulates development in these areas to protect and promote public health, safety and general welfare, and to minimize public and private losses due to flooding. Information and resources are available to assist with the permitting process.
Anyone proposing any human-caused change to land in a floodplain needs a Floodplain Development Permit (FDP). This includes, but is not limited to, any change to improved or unimproved real estate, including buildings or other structures, mining, dredging, filling, grading, paving, excavation or drilling operations or storage of equipment or materials.
